- REFERENCE
- Bug # 209715
-
- DESCRIPTION
-
- On power-up of Indigo2 XZ/Extreme systems running IRIX 5.2, the stipple
- register sometimes is not initialized correctly. This register is involved in
- how X lines are drawn on the system. With an incorrect initialization all
- graphics on the screen can look "stippled". Other symptoms include: toolchests
- with no lines; invisible rubber-banding; etc. All X points, lines, and spans
- are affected. This is logged in PV as bug 209715.
-
- A fix will be implemented in the next release of IRIX. For customers running
- IRIX 5.2 an easy work-around appears below.
-
- ACTION REQUIRED
- None
-
- RESOLUTION/RECOMMENDATION
- To work around this problem on IRIX 5.2 do one of the following:
-
- 1. Run any gl program.
- A good program to run is /usr/bin/gclear. This will not only
- cause the stipple register to be corrected, but it will also
- redraw all the clients on the screen.
-
- 2. Run any X program that draws dashed lines.
- An example would be /usr/bin/X11/xgc, which does an X graphics demo.
-
- 3. Log out and back in.
-
- Note that any of these actions fixes the problem only for that
- power-up session. The problem may appear again on the next power-up.
